Runners Gear Must Haves: Gloves and Hand Warmers
I tend to run cold. Literally and figuratively. If everyone I'm running with has 2 top layers on and a light pair of tights, I have 3 top layers and warm tights. I wear a hat sometimes with ear warmers and I always wear gloves. When it's warmer I'll wear shorts, a long sleeve shirt, and gloves. Did I mention gloves? I love, love warm weather - as in running 60* or warmer. I've run in temps up to 104* and although I'm not ecstatic when it's THAT hot I will always choose temperatures over 80* compared to below 30*. I've run down to 8* which made even my butt cold so I'm not buying the theory that higher body fat means you stay warmer. My butt has the most padding on my body. It has icicles hanging off it. Since not running isn't an option - and neither is a treadmill since I'd rather battle the elements than lock myself up inside - I've figured out ways around it all. Here is what I do about having really, really, really cold hands. I'll keep the warm heart though.
Disposable hand warmers. I buy the Costco box of them, shake and go!
My Saucony gloves. Gloves with a mitten cover that is lightweight and can be tucked away if your hands get too warm.
Glove cover is perfect for storing my hand warmers and easy to remove them and put them in my pocket if I warm up too much. You've got to get these runners must-haves!
