Product Review: Running Attire

Ready to tackle the wind and 9 miles! Yes, I track my favorite companies on eBay in the hopes of getting a great deal.  I scored this - new - for $41 which is exactly 50% off and used money I had in my PayPal account from selling a few things.  Double score.  The Athleta running shorts I got some time ago and it's finally warm enough to wear shorts.  Oiselle makes the jacket and also makes my favorite Roga Short for running, but I love to try new things and Athleta is an amazing company.

The Clearly Running Jacket is a new style for Oiselle's Fall12 Collection. Oiselle is based in Seattle, so we know a thing or two about running in bleak, rainy conditions. We created the Clearly Jacket so that your bright layered style can shine through, while you run dry and warm. The Clearly Jacket is the perfect fall outer layer: ultra-lightweight with 4-way stretch and superior breathability. It is also available as a running vest. We designed this running jacket with all our favorite features, like scoop neck (no chin rubbing here), four zip pockets, extra breathability with back vent, elasticized cuffs (keep that Garmin dry), sleek style with a pop of color on the zipper. - new! fall 2012 style - superior stretch, wick & breathability - four zip pockets - 55% polyurethane/45%polyester mesh - machine washable - made in china This was an item I was drooling over last summer.

I'm very cautious about what I order, so I held off in order to get a couple of pairs of shorts which I felt I would get more use out of.  So now at the end (hopefully) of our windy, rainy, snowy, dreary season, I got the chance to wear the Clearly jacket.  It was in the 50's last night with 18*-25* mph winds.  I wore the Athleta shorts, a T-shirt and a jacket.  It felt much colder than the temp indicated - my hands ended up freezing but the jacket did exactly what it said it would. One of my running buddies asked me several times how it felt.  Did I get hot?  Nope.  Was it wicking sweat?  Yes, actually and very well.  I never felt sticky at all.  Was it blocking the wind?  Yes, except when the wind blew up the arm sleeve occasionally, I really didn't feel it at all. It's so lightweight it doesn't add a lot of heat, but absolutely protected me from the elements.  I like the option of layering more under it when temperatures drop.  It wouldn't replace my lined jacket for below maybe 20* but I loved it.  There are so many pockets and when I put my sunglasses in one, they didn't bounce.

These were super comfy.  I prefer a wider waistband which they've incorporated into their newer shorts, but the elastic waistband wasn't a problem. They sit low which I prefer.  The built-in panty is super transparent and very breathable.  It was a different material than my other shorts but I didn't notice it while running. Built-in panty. Interesting fabric
Great little short!
