Motivational Quotes to Help Men Working Out

"Workout Motivation Quotes For Men". This phrase is one of the most popular Google searches that get people to my blog.

I searched it myself and in 20 pages didn't find why?  At any rate, I'm all about motivational quotes.  I have pages of them.  I should write a book of quotes I didn't makeup myself.  I think that's called plagiarism? So, I'm sharing these motivational quotes to help men when working out.  Adventure

"You cannot tailor-make the situations in life, but you can tailor-make the attitud…

Stop Listening to Your Demons - Push Through Them Instead

The insidious thoughts in your head urging you to quit...

Your inner demons.  I'm too fat. I'm too thin.  I'm too short.  I feel like an amazon.  I will fail.  I am not good enough.  I will never be able to finish.  My abs aren't as defined as hers.  I am not smart enough.  I don't make enough money.  My body doesn't fit my personality.  These jeans make me look fat.  I will look stupid.  People won't like me.  Why did I attempt this?  People will laugh at me.  I can't make it.  Who I am is …

There are benefits of training in every heart rate zone. Here is an eye-opening guide to heart rate zone training.

Being on a team means there are people at varying levels of running fitness, speed, etc...  I am fortunate to be able to run with elite athletes going pro and athletes just beginning their fitness journey.

Here's How I Overcame Adversity with Running

Regardless of what the issue is whether an injury, pregnancy, new baby, illness, etc....  Overcoming adversity with training doesn't feel happy.

Breathing is my issue.  How does it feel being able to run without issue to having difficulty breathing? Prior to joining a team, I brought my half marathon PR from a 2:02 to 1:47. I trained alone, but consistently. I battled finding the right shoes, learning about wicking materials, some IT band flare-ups, but went relatively injury-free. Shaving t…

Boost Results by Verbalizing Your Fitness Goals

Here I am practicing what I preach.  I know my goals internally.  I tell 2 or 3 people.  I recommend that everyone else write down their goals and say them out loud but I never do.  This is my reckoning. I've learned how to boost results by verbalizing your fitness goals.

1.  Napa Marathon with my teammates in March.  I want to break 4 hours.  I really want to break 3:45 because that qualifies me for Boston.  I blow it off when I'm asked - "no I couldn't care less about qualifying for Boston…

Where I Find Inspiration

I get my inspiration from reading quotes from and about other people.  I love people's stories.  This is where I find inspiration. This one takes my breath away.

I have learned that there is no failure in running, or in life, as long as you keep moving. It’s not about speed and gold medals. It’s about refusing to be stopped. You might find that one particular direction proves difficult, but there are many directions on a compass. Infinite, in fact. As long as you keep searching, you’ll find y…

Learn Your Love Language

I attempted to learn German years ago.  As I struggled to put things together out loud, what I said was "I am yummy".  My daughter was 16 at that time and fluent in German.  She stared at me in the kitchen waiting for me to realize my folly.  "Wait", I said, "I just said 'I am yummy'.  That's not what I meant!"

In stitches of laughter that had us literally falling on the floor in tears laughing, I decided perhaps I should concentrate on getting ONE language down.  I have tremendous respect fo…

Great Gift Ideas for Everyone on Your List

I've admitted that getting gifts makes me uncomfortable.  So think of this as more of a "things I have on a list to eventually buy for myself".  I don't know who you have on your list, but if you purchase any of these and she doesn't want them you can send them to me.  So, here are some great gift ideas for everyone on your list.

Sweet Spot Skirts.  I met this pretty amazing lady through work.  Her business is building slowly since she decided to hire unemployed women to sew for her instead …

Try My Strategies to Find Balance: Work, Family, & You

There is no one way to create balance. No pie charts, no scales. It's a constantly evolving chore wheel of priorities. A harmony of proportions. I can't honestly evaluate if I balance it all well. My boss may say he wishes I'd get more done with my time, work more hours. My coach may say he thinks I should attend more workouts, show more effort, be faster. My kids may say they want more one on one dates, more of my time, more scientific experiments in the kitchen, more shopping trips. My checkbo…

It's that time of year. People are posting their "Days of Being Grateful".  I want to feel that gratitude all year long. Gratitude is all about attitude.  I GET to be on a team. I GET to run. I GET to do triathlons. I GET to have this big, crazy, fun, wonderful family. I GET to go to work. I GET to pay my bills, I GET to feel happy.  I GET to be thankful. But here it is. My short but important list of things I'm thankful for.

My family.  It's not like any other and thank goodness for that. …
