Let's Not Strive For Perfection

There was a comment I read that's been nagging at me. It was on a blog by a beautiful, spunky woman in her 20's who's married and is a runner. A woman ranted (and I mean ranted).  Here's a portion of her post: "Liz December 13, 2011 at 5:33 am I think health and fitness blogging, in general, in a business of deception and we all buy into it. As soon as anyone clicks on your page, or any other fitness/healthy eating/whatever blog, they are buying into the picture you present. We see that you are …

Have More Loves than Hates

I've written a couple reviews and blogged about my favs or must haves. But there is life outside of running. (GASP, CHOKE!!! WHAT??!!) It's true. There are some things in my life I love and some that I detest. Here's a snapshot. I LOVE my gray, v-neck cashmere sweater. It's delicious. Yummy. And I got it at a great second hand store for $11. I love it all the more for that. I LOVE my deep eggplant purple silk Ann Taylor long, ribbed tank top. Also delicious. Got that one for $3.... It feels like…

The Many Facets of a Woman

I recently read an article about how many facets of personality we have. Truly, our worlds at times collide leaving in their wake confusion.  A feeling of being with someone out of context so to speak.  One time I ran into a girlfriend and acted like my woman self.  My then 12-year-old daughter later yelled at me "It's like you're not even my Mom!" because, up to that point, my being her mom was the only facet of my personality she was familiar with.  I've run into clients from the shop at races…

Plastic Surgery Story: Fantastic Boobs!

I had my boobs "fixed". That's another way of saying augmentation, boob job, lift and tuck, put back, re inflated... Yup. I'm not even a little ashamed. I have to admit, I'm not big on plastic surgery. I have always felt that if you spent life eating healthy, staying active, using sunscreen, getting in the required fruits and veggies, attempted to get enough sleep, played often and laughed a lot you could age gracefully and beautifully. When I was in my late 30's struggling with the impending 4…

Runners Tale in Alaska: Over the River and through the Woods

Time for another run on break from court in Alaska. A new direction, new day. I was fortunate to be running on the Old Glenn Highway (Arctic Street) in Palmer. It's difficult to explain how unique Alaska is. People are very laid back and the pace plods much more slowly. In my day to day life as it is with most people, I think about what time I have to get up, when I have to be there, how long will it take to get there, how long will this last.... Everything seems to be determined not only in inc…
