Fitness Website and Blog Review - Another Mother Runner

I can no longer recollect how I initially heard about Another Mother Runner, but I've been following their blog, podcasts, books and website for a long time.  Sarah and Dimity have offered a plethora of information on all things running from the basic to the TMI and I enjoy their candid humor.  They are real women with genuine struggles balancing work, marriage, children, running and all the seemingly insignificant but often disruptive events that occur in daily life.  I've cyber-stalked followe…

Girls Retreat Review - Kingston Adventures

For the first time ever in my 41 years, I treated myself to a weekend with the girls. I've always wanted girlfriends to travel with, go to lunch with, chat with about important things like Botox, stretch marks, sex, kids, husbands, running, getting older, etc...  However, that is a luxury that has not been a large commodity in my life.  I have one best friend, my sister, and my mother in law all who live far away or a phone call away, however, that's just not the same as getting together.  Other…

Training With A Coach

Having a coach is a relief. I share what I've done, who I am, what my goals are, etc... He evaluates me, pushes me, develops my weaknesses, and formulates a plan. On paper, it's the easiest thing ever. Reality screams how difficult it is. First what you need is the schedule of training - day, time, and location.  If I could read well that would work fine, however, on Tuesday I read that the location had changed so I drove to where it was supposed to be and no one came.  I was nearly in tears.  I…

You're My Perspiration

Sunday run at Reno Running Company. I so enjoy getting to know people, being social, surrounding myself with the running community.

Very attractive picture of myself getting ready to leave the house

Yes, I am a professional photographer. Thank you for noticing!

My new buddy David was there.  We're pretty well-paced which is nice.  Last week he pushed me, this week I pushed him a bit.  That's what it's all about.  He listens to his iPod so we don't chat which is no big deal - I'm just gla…

Trying New Things: Bikram Yoga

I've always loved yoga. I used to do tapes (yes, tapes as in pre-DVD!) when the kiddos were younger and I was a stay at home mommy. We also had a fantastic little yoga studio in town and for a while the kids and I all took classes there. At a previous job we had a private yoga instructor come once a week for an hour and that was fantastic. That ended over 3 years ago though and my mat has been collecting dust. I've wanted to try Bikram Yoga (check out the website here) for a couple years now (le…
