Race Review - Running With The Bears Half Marathon

I've been to dozens of races and over time - once you've experienced a well-run race - it's very difficult to participate in a race that's poorly run.  I suppose on that front I've become sort of a race snob.  It's not about the expo, the swag bag, or the carb-loading pre-race dinner.  Although I adore all of those things, what makes a great race for me is that it starts on time, there's no possible chance of getting lost because it's so well-marked, the volunteers actually seem enthusiastic to …

Buying Compression Gear for Runners

*******I did not get paid for this posting.

If I absolutely love it and think my active life is better because of a product and it's worth every penny, I won't shut up about it.  This, my friends, is one of those times. Some of my favorite products have been acquired after someone else posts a review, so I hope it helps other people when I do it.

It is a rare and beautiful gift when you meet someone you connect with so much you have difficulty remembering your life before they were a part of …

Runners Blog Review - Running on the Wall

Usually, I don't know who my blog followers are. Where they live, how the found me if they enjoy following, if there are things they'd like more or less of, where they live, etc... Naturally, I can assume all my blog followers are witty, well-spoken, well-read, and belong to Mensa. I was absolutely thrilled to have a blog follower contact me a week or so ago.

Melianna and her husband Alex live in Sedona, AZ where, many years ago, I also lived.  I visit there occassionally because my sister liv…

Running Shoe Reviews - Brooks

How is it even possible to thank the men and women of the armed services for their service?? Not possible. There are no words. So thank you!

On the 4th all kinds of businesses advertised sales. Shopping and saving money? My love language! I'm a Brooks girl.  Pure Connect.  Love, love them!!  Not totally minimalist (like the 5 finger Vibrams I wear sometimes) but pretty close.  With the best cushion and a trail option - Pure Grit.  Sigh...  If it's possible for a shoe to be described with the wo…

Free Swag from NUUN!!

Don't get me wrong, free swag is always a good thing. I love getting packages in the mail. I like the thrill of seeing a package addressed to ME, opening it, looking through it, etc... I've won two items previously - neither of which were things I necessarily wanted but I still enjoyed the process.  Even packet pickup goodies - many of which I don't use - is exciting.  Silly, I know. A couple days ago I got a package in the mail...  I had applied to be on a relay team this August in Oregon with …

BodyRock Sport Review: Sexy And I Know It

Running is not sexy. Snot rocketing, peeing in bushes, burping, farting, spitting, sweating, the urge to poop.... Not super sexy stuff. A few years ago I was running and someone I know drove past me. He said he looked in his rearview mirror and saw me snot rocket. He told me he decided that was the type of girl he wanted to marry. Seriously?? Dude, great that you're not grossed out by it, but maybe reevaluate your priorities!! Although I am very good at the proverbial farmers blow....

Running with My Daughter: Anything Is Possible 5K

The anticipation of a race is half the fun!! The planning, prep, outfit selection, drive there, pre-race standing around is almost as exciting as the race itself.  Then there's the post-race glow.... I'm getting ready to do the Anythings Possible 5K at the University of Nevada Reno campus with one of my 19-year-old daughters. ( http://anythingispossible5k.com/)  9 cities are participating at 1:30 am while the clocks turn back thus giving runners a negative time. Can anyone say PR??? I don't usua…

Running With Kids: Reno 5000 Halloween Race 2011

Packet pick up is one of my favorite parts of a race.  I like seeing the coupons, little goodies, get my chip and race bib.  It lets me know it's ON!!!  And it's the countdown to donning the race outfit, getting a little anxious and feeling the energy of a race.  With the exception of Taylor finding a spider on him in the parking lot on the way out and freaking out so much I almost peed myself, it went off without a hitch but had all the fun elements of every packet pickup.  Kids are jonesing fo…
